Why choose DROPS Paris?
  • Aran-Weight Combed Cotton: DROPS Paris is 100% combed cotton spun from several thin strands, giving an aran-weight yarn with 75 m per 50 g. It is absorbent and breathable, with a soft, slightly rustic feel and no itch.
  • Quick, Beginner-Friendly Gauge: At 17 stitches per 10 cm on 5 mm needles, dishcloths, bags and tops grow fast, and it crochets just as quickly. Like many multi-strand cottons it can split now and then, so watch for snagged plies.
  • Washes Hot, Wears Hard: Potholders, dishcloths, towels, baby bibs and baskets can be machine washed at 60°C, then dried flat. The fabric is firm and fairly heavy, so baby-sized blankets work better than large throws.
Description

DROPS Paris – Sturdy Aran Cotton for Quick, Colourful Projects

DROPS Paris is the go-to chunky cotton for fast, satisfying makes: potholders, dishcloths, baskets, bags, cushions, amigurumi and breezy summer tops. Worked on a 5 mm hook or needles, projects grow quickly — perfect for beginners and for anyone who wants a finished piece this weekend. The firm matte structure holds its shape wash after wash.

Why choose DROPS Paris?

  • Quick Results: Aran weight means fewer stitches and fast progress — a great first-project yarn.
  • Truly Hard-Wearing: Machine washable at 60°C, so it's ideal for potholders, kitchen and home items that need real washing.
  • Huge Colour Range: Bright, saturated shades that make colourwork and stripes pop.

TIPS & TRICKS

Pro Tip: Paris makes a dense, heavy fabric, so garments need structure. Knitters recommend a stretchy Estonian cast-on for elastic hems and a three-needle bind-off at the shoulders, which stops the weight of the body from dragging the neckline out of shape.

About Product

How many balls of DROPS Paris for a dishcloth?

One ball usually makes one dishcloth of about 20–25 cm square. A knitted or crocheted dishcloth that size typically uses 50–75 m, and each 50 g ball of DROPS Paris holds 75 m. A thick potholder, worked double or in a dense stitch, usually takes about 2 balls.

Is DROPS Paris good for amigurumi?

Yes, it makes sturdy, larger toys quickly. Crochet it on a 3.5–4 mm hook rather than 5 mm so the stuffing doesn't show, and use 10–14 mm safety eyes for this weight, such as Black Safety Eyes – 12 mm. For children under 3, lock the washers on firmly or embroider the eyes.

Does DROPS Paris shrink?

Some shrinkage in length is normal for 100% cotton washed hot. For dishcloths and potholders it rarely matters, but for garments, wash a swatch at the temperature you plan to use and dry it flat before measuring. That shows the true size of the finished fabric.

DROPS Paris or YarnArt Jeans Plus: which should I use?

Both knit at a similar gauge on 5 mm needles, so the choice comes down to fibre. Paris is 100% cotton, absorbent and best for kitchen cloths and hard-wearing home items. YarnArt Jeans Plus adds 45% acrylic for a lighter, softer fabric that suits toys and garments.
